ATLC Benefits Summary
Below is a high-level overview of the benefits available for ATLC employees. For specific program details, refer to your collective bargaining agreement.
ORNL pays the entire cost for some benefits, others require employee cost-sharing, and some are paid entirely by the employee. To the extent feasible, certain benefits are provided on a tax-favored basis.
MY HEALTH
Medical Insurance (includes Vision & Prescription Drugs)
When you are eligible: Your first day of work
Who contributes: ORNL and you
UnitedHealthcare (UHC) Consumer Choice is a consumer-driven health plan with a Health Savings Account that may be used to pay for eligible healthcare expenses. The medical plan includes prescription drug coverage through Express Scripts and a choice between a basic or enhanced vision plan through VSP Vision Care.

Coverage is available through Delta Dental. You can choose either a basic or enhanced dental plan. Review each plan to determine which one is best for your dental needs.

Employees can maintain and improve their health through Optum Engage’s comprehensive e-health program of wellness activities and educational opportunities. Eligible employees can earn Optum Engage credit toward the Wellness Incentive.

Who contributes: ORNL
The EAP is available to employees as well as their spouses and dependent children. Provides confidential assessment, counseling services and referrals if necessary.

Pension Plan
When you are eligible: You can retire with a full pension at 65 or older regardless of years of service or a reduced pension at 50 with at least 10 years of service.
Who contributes: ORNL and you
You receive lifetime monthly payments based on your length of service and monthly straight-time earnings (base salary not including overtime or bonuses) during your final 3 years or the highest 3 calendar years of your final 10 years of service.

When you are eligible: You may enroll during your first week of employment.
Who contributes: ORNL and you
Savings Plan benefits include these options: pre-tax, Roth 401(k), and after-tax savings; Target Date Funds, Core Funds, and Brokerage Window available; daily account valuation; automatic rebalancing and annual contribution increases; web-based investment education tools.

When you are eligible: You may enroll at any time if you are enrolled in the Consumer Choice plan and you are eligible to receive an HSA.

Employees eligible for the HSA receive an employer contribution. You can contribute through payroll deduction up to IRS limits.

When you are eligible: Your first day of work
Who contributes: You contribute through payroll deductions.
Dependent care funds can be used for childcare or care of elderly or ill family members that reside with you and are IRS tax dependents. This is a tax-effective way to save for eligible dependent care expenses because the funds deposited into the account are not subject to taxes.

Who contributes: You contribute through payroll deductions.
HCFSA funds are a tax-effective way to pay for eligible qualified medical expenses because the funds deposited into the account are not subject to payroll taxes. Employees enrolled in the Consumer Choice medical plan but not eligible for the Health Savings Account or not enrolled in a medical plan through ORNL can elect the Health Care Flexible Spending Account. You can elect to contribute up to the IRS maximum.

Basic Group Life Insurance
When you are eligible: Your first day of work
Who contributes: ORNL and you
Basic Life Insurance coverage is two times your annual salary, rounded to the next higher $1,000 if your pay is not an even multiple of $1,000.

Who contributes: You pay the entire cost based on your age.
Supplemental Life Insurance coverage is one to nine times your annual salary, rounded to the next higher $1,000, if your pay is not an even multiple of $1,000. Maximum amount of coverage is $1,500,000.

Who contributes: You pay the entire cost based on your spouse’s age for coverage on your spouse.
Dependent Spouse Life Insurance coverage is available in $10,000 increments from $10,000 to $50,000. Dependent child coverage is $10,000 per eligible child.

When you are eligible: Your first day of work
Who contributes: You pay the entire cost based on coverage elected for yourself and family.
Benefit is payable in the event of a covered accident. Full or scheduled payment to you for certain loss of limbs or sight. If you are enrolled under the family plan, your spouse and eligible dependent children will be insured as percentage of your Principal Sum. Maximum amount of coverage is $500,000.

Legal insurance offers affordable and reliable legal counsel and valuable resources to help you address legal issues such as estate planning, dispute resolution, buying a home, or adopting a child. Tax preparation services are available for an additional fee. Identity theft protection is also included.

In the event of your accidental death as a result of a covered accident while on business travel, an amount equal to four times your annual salary (maximum coverage amount is $500,000) will be paid to your Group Life insurance beneficiary, if any, or your Estate, unless you designate otherwise. This plan also provides for disability or dismemberment benefits.

Critical illness insurance from MetLife is a special form of insurance that provides policyholders with a lump sum payment in the event of a catastrophic diagnosis. The policyholder can use the money they receive however they like. Employees are offered a choice of the following benefit amount options: $15,000 or $30,000.

Whole Life Insurance from Allstate Benefits is a type of insurance coverage that provides you with a death benefit that accumulates cash value along the way. When you purchase this coverage, it also includes an Accelerated Death Benefit for Long Term Care at no additional cost.

Accident insurance from MetLife is an optional supplemental insurance policy designed to provide a financial benefit to help cover the costs of being injured in an accident. Accident insurance plans pay benefits based on the type of treatment needed or expense incurred.

Hospital Indemnity Insurance from MetLife is an optional supplemental insurance policy that provides a fixed daily benefit payment for each day you are hospitalized. The benefit covers planned (e.g., maternity) or unplanned (e.g., accident or illness) hospitalizations. This benefit is paid directly to you, and you can use the money however you like.

Vacation
When you are eligible: You accrue vacation starting on your first day of work.
Who contributes: ORNL pays your basic hourly rate of pay.
Based on your date of hire and length of service, you can easily determine your vacation eligibility, accrual rates, and banking maximums. One week of the initial vacation may be taken after completing 6 months of Company Service.

Who contributes: ORNL pays your basic hourly rate of pay.
Paid leave is available, upon proper approval, for absences associated with occasional illness, injury, or personal business. ATLC full-time employees are eligible for up to 24 hours per year. Employees hired on or after July 1 will be eligible for 16 hours that year.

Who contributes: ORNL pays your basic hourly rate of pay.
Parental leave provides ATLC full-time employees with paid time off to assist in the care and well-being of their newborn or newly adopted child. Full-time employees receive 40 hours of parental leave per birth or adoption event.

Who contributes: ORNL pays your basic hourly rate of pay.
The following fixed holidays are observed: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King’s Birthday, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, an additional day related to Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, day after Thanksgiving, Christmas, a day related to Christmas.

With manager approval, receive up to 24 hours of excused absence with pay for a death in the immediate family.

Who contributes: ORNL pays your basic hourly rate of pay.
Your basic hourly rate of pay for 2 weeks training in a calendar year (or 4 weeks every 2 years); emergency duty for up to 4-1/3 weeks in a calendar year.

Your basic hourly rate of pay is paid to you during your jury duty time.

When you are eligible: After 3 months of employment. Benefit is based on length of company service.
Who contributes: ORNL
The benefit provides for 100% paid leave, after a 3-day unpaid waiting period, as detailed in the union contract.

When you are eligible: Your first day of work. Eligible for benefits after you are disabled for 6 months.
Who contributes: ORNL
Disability benefit equals 60% of pay, up to a monthly maximum of $5,000 reduced by any benefit that you receive from Social Security, Workers’ Compensation, or other Company- provided benefits, including Business Travel Accident and the Pension Plan.
